Tradition and Innovation in the Shadow of the Hill

In the heart of the Sleat peninsula, the young Torabhaig distillery has committed itself to the motto “Smoke with Taste”. For the fourth chapter of the Legacy Series, called “Dileab”, a blend of Concerto and Laureate barley varieties was used, which, with a considerable phenol content of 78 ppm in the malt, ensures a distinct smoky note. Fermentation with special Pinnacle MG+ yeast and exclusive maturation in American white oak barrels (Quercus Alba) give the distillate its structure. The packaging design, created by local artist Ellis O'Connor, underlines the distillery's deep connection to its barren but charming surroundings.

A Play of Peat, Salt, and Sweet Oak

On the nose, a complex interplay of powerful peat smoke and aromatic pipe tobacco unfolds, balanced by citrus notes and a delicate honey sweetness. On the palate, this single malt shows its full intensity: distinctive maritime notes of sea salt meet the creamy sweetness of salted caramel and the tart spiciness of dark chocolate. Despite the high concentration, the character remains precise and is accompanied in the long finish by roasted nuts and a slight hint of the sea.
