Collection: Caol Ila

The Caol Ila Collection has embodied Islay's largest production power since 1846 as a distillery known as the "Sound of Islay," boasting spectacular views of the strait to Jura. Founded by Hector Henderson, the distillery was completely demolished in 1972 and rebuilt by 1974 , expanding from two to six stills and becoming the largest distillery on the island . With an annual capacity of 6.5 million liters , Caol Ila is Islay's workhorse and a key component of Johnnie Walker Black Label . The characteristic floor-to-ceiling windows in the still house offer unique panoramic views. The water comes from Loch nam Ban , and the barley from Port Ellen. Initially introduced as a single malt in 2002 , the portfolio now includes the 12 Years Old , 18 Years Old , Distillers Edition , and the unpeated Moch . The style is lighter than other Islay malts, with floral and peppery notes alongside traditional peat character. Under Diageo since 1997 , every bottling combines industrial efficiency with artisanal quality – elegantly peated, approachable and award-winning.
