Far from the classic peat notes of Scotland, this single malt completely redefines the theme of smoke through the use of native Manuka woods – capturing the wild nature of the Pacific nation in a glass.

Taste Experience

In the north of New Zealand, in Kumeu near Auckland, the Thomson Distillery is dedicated to producing characterful distillates in hand-hammered copper pot stills. The basis is 100% locally grown barley from the South Island, which is dried over burning Manuka wood. This unique New Zealand characteristic gives the malt an aromatic profile that clearly distinguishes it from conventional peat smoke: floral, earthy, almost herbaceous. The subsequent maturation in Bourbon casks rounds off the distillate and complements the exotic DNA of this whisky, which was awarded Best New Zealand Single Malt in 2019.
