Nc'nean Organic Single Malt Whisky – Quiet Rebels: Amy
Only 10,132 bottles were bottled worldwide, yet it is not the limited edition alone that makes this single malt remarkable. It is a liquid portrait of the philosophy of Nc'nean, a distillery that has the courage to reinterpret traditions with an ecological vision.
Sustainable Visions and French Sweet Wine Casks
In the heart of the Scottish Highlands, the Nc'nean Distillery consistently focuses on organic farming and renewable energies. The fourth edition of the "Quiet Rebels" series is dedicated to Amy Stammers, the Head of Sustainability, and reflects her preference for particularly fruit-forward profiles. The artisanal specialty lies in the cask selection. Our guide Cooperage: The Art of Cask Making explains the background of cask craftsmanship. In addition to classic ex-bourbon barrels and STR red wine casks, 19% rare Maury liqueur wine casks from France were used. This certified organic whisky was bottled in recycled glass in September 2024 and underscores the distillery's status as a certified B Corporation.
An interplay of citrus notes and dark fruit sweetness
The bouquet opens with a lively clarity reminiscent of zesty lemon pudding and fine floral honey, accompanied by a subtle note of cinnamon. On the palate, the texture is full-bodied and complex; notes of freshly baked apple muffins meet the deep sweetness of Zwetschgen plum jam and brown sugar. The influences of the French sweet wine casks lend the distillate a velvety depth, complemented by nuances of vanilla and brown butter. You can learn more about the influence of age and climate in the guide Cask Maturation in Numbers. The finish is medium-length and brings back echoes of dark forest berries and soft caramel.
A modern Highland character for discerning connoisseurs
With a powerful strength of 48.5% ABV and the absence of chill filtration, this single malt preserves its full aromatic integrity. The striking dark bottle with its delicate botanical design makes it an aesthetic highlight in any collection. It is the ideal recommendation for connoisseurs who appreciate artisanal precision and ecological responsibility. This whisky is best enjoyed neat at room temperature to fully explore the fine nuances of the STR red wine casks and the fruity complexity of the Maury maturation.
