This limited edition combines the smoky intensity of Islay with the rich sweetness and creaminess of Spanish PX casks – an exceptional taste experience full of depth and complexity.

Production & Maturation

As the second release in the innovative Càraid Ìleach range (Gaelic for "Friend of Islay"), this exceptional single malt was matured exclusively in Pedro Ximénez sherry quarter casks. The smaller quarter casks intensify the contact between whisky and wood and accelerate maturation, resulting in remarkable depth of aroma and exceptional sweetness.

Bottled without chill filtration or added coloring, this Islay whisky presents itself in its most authentic form. The combination of the characteristic peat smoke of the Ardnahoe distillery and the intensely sweet, syrupy notes from the PX casks creates a captivating balance between smoky power and opulent sweetness.

Tasting Notes

aroma

Intense notes of raisins, dates and figs blend with gentle peat smoke, complemented by dark chocolate, caramel, honey and a hint of sea salt and Christmas spices.

palate

Full-bodied and syrupy with lush PX aromas of dried fruits, molasses and toffee, followed by spicy peat smoke, creamy vanilla, oak spice and a maritime note.

finish

A long, warming finish with lingering sweet sherry notes, gentle smoke and a perfect balance of PX sweetness and Islay peatiness that resonates long after.
